Getting started with Diets
The My Diets section of The Nutrition Program allows you to complete a Diet sheet with all the foods and drinks that you have eaten and drunk during the day. You can do this for a single day, or for some or all of the days in a 7-day week.
The Diet analysis can help you look at ways to improve your diet. You can change the ingredients and see the effect on the nutrients.
Create a Diet
To access the Diets section, click the orange My Diets tab from anywhere in the Nutrition Program.
Click the green + New Diet button to create a new Diet.
Enter a name for the Diet, for example Simon
Select a Start day - e.g. Monday
Age - the age of the person whose diet you are looking at, and whether they are male or female.
Click the OK button to save the new Diet.
The Diet Overview page
The main page of a Diet shows a summary of what was eaten, one day at a time.
You can use the day-picker in the rop-right corner to switch to a different day and see what was eaten on that day. If you're just doing a Diet analysis for a single day, you can ignore the day-picker.
The summary for a day shows a list of foods eaten that day, ordered by time of day.
Any Foods or Recipes which you add to your diet (see Add Foods and Add Recipes below) will appear in this diet summary section.
Add Foods
- Click Add Foods, and Find food.
- Type in the food you want to add to the diet – for example, toast.
- Enter the amount in grams and the time that you ate the food.
- Complete this for all the foods you ate during the day.
Add Recipes
The Add Recipes tab allows you to add a portion of one of your Recipes from the My Recipes section of The Nutrition Program
If you have a lot of Recipes, you can start typing the name of your Recipe to search for it.
Click on the green + button to add one portion of your Recipe.
Make a Healthier Version
You can create a copy of your Diet and experiment with changing the Foods and Recipes in it, to try and make it healthier.
If you click the Make a Healthier Version icon,
The Nutrition Program will keep your original diet and create a new copy,
with all the same Foods and Recipes added, so that you can edit the amounts or remove and replace things.
