Reference Intake vs GDA
GDA and Reference Intake (RI) are two very similar systems used to provide information about the nutritional value of food products.
GDA stands for "Guideline Daily Amount," and it is a system which was widely used in the UK until around 2014, so you may still come across it. The GDA is used to show how much of each nutrient is in a food product, based on the average adult's daily intake. The GDA values are given as a percentage of the recommended daily amount for each nutrient.
The term "reference intake" (or "RI") has replaced GDA on UK food labels, but the basic principle is the same.
